Who is Horrocks Photography?

Dave Horrocks

+  I've been at this photography thing, professionally anyways, for 10 years now.  I had been working for Fotogenix since 2007, and when they closed their doors, I took the leap to start up my own studio.  It has been a fun way for me to combine the commercial work I've been doing with Horrocks Photography and the awesomeness of working with portrait clients, which I have always enjoyed!  I'm a firm believer in the philosophy of following your bliss (which is what got me here).  What's the best thing about me following my bliss?  I get to capture and create personal works of art that actually will mean something to you!  That's why I can't stress enough the importance of personalizing your photos.  The thing that has kept me so fully obsessed with photography is how no single session is ever the same because everyone and everything so unique - I LOVE IT!  It's another reason I keep the staff so small.  That way I get to meet, and interact with, as many people as I can.

+ As for life outside of here, I'm fortunate enough to have an AMAZING wife, Sinda, and two little men, Dean & Evan.  I am currently just finishing up my Bachelor of Fine Art in Photography with a minor in Art History.  I'm ridiculously into suits, ties, and hats; I'm a huge Raiders fan - love me some black & silver!

+ I truly love what I do, and I love that I get to share it every day with you.  There's nothing better than seeing people react to their photos. Everyone deserves to feel like a total rockstar, and that is how I approach sessions as well as the editing. You'll always be you, and why not let me help you show the world how awesome you are!

+ I’ve been working with Dave for over a year now, and have absolutely LOVED meeting so many of you.

+ I was born and raised right here in the Salt Lake area.  I’ve been married to my best friend and love of my life, Carl, for over 21 years. We have 5 fun loving, crazy kids - one boy, and four girls. I occasionally volunteer as our church photographer (who says you can’t mix business and pleasure?), and I am a homeschooler. I love that I get to make my living by helping you all capture those timeless moments in your lives - and make you look amazing doing it. One of my all time favorite quotes reveals a lot about me: “Given another shot at life, I would seize every minute… look at it and really see it… live it and never look back…” -Erma Bombeck

+ I’ve been involved in photography for most of my life, but it wasn’t until I got older that I was able to chase my dream of a career in photography. I went back to school at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh Online Division, where I was fortunate enough to work with skilled instructors’ and classmates that invested their time in helping me hone in on my skills. I now have my degree in Photography and am a member of NAPP (National Association of Photoshop Professionals).

+ What kind of things should you expect from me?

  • You can expect me to be honest, caring, fun loving, & happy- I pride myself on trying to see the best in every situation, I’m detail oriented, and creative.
  • I understand that no family or person is the same and I will make sure we create a comfortable/ friendly photographic experience that is tailored to each of your needs and personalities.
  • I care deeply about creating timeless images for you and I believe that everyone should be treated with care and individuality from the moment we meet for our initial consultation through the delivery of the finished product.
